Here are pictures of Garrett's new head! Surgery was Friday and all went really well. We just got home from the hospital yesterday (Monday). He is seeming more like himself every day. He has even been smiling at us again.

top shot before surgery...the front of his head is to the bottom of the picture in both of these. The Dr. told us that he took 2 inches off of the length of his head!
top shot after surgery. They do the zig zag incision so that the scar will heal small and you can't see it through the hair after it is all healed.

profile after. the big tube of blood is the drain that they put in to drain out a lot of the fluid, so he didn't swell so much in the back. I know it is gross....sorry.
DAY 1: right after surgery in the PICU.
DAY 2:...the swelling has started.
DAY 3: Sunday. This was max swelling. Both of his eyes were swollen shut. It was really sad. He just slept most of the day. Through all of this he maintained his easy-going personality and was so great about it all.
DAY 4: This was yesterday when we got home. The swelling was going down and so only one eye was swollen shut again. He laid with that side down, so all of the fluid collected there. You can see that he was happy to be home. The kids were all happy to see him, but they wondered if we brought home the wrong baby because they said that this didn't look like their Garrett.
DAY 5: Today he looks a lot better. Most of the swelling is down. He is still a little puffy, but all of that should be gone in 1-2 more days. He looks GREAT!

Wow I can't believe the difference. What a cute kid. Thanks for showing all of that I always wondered about all that. It was fascinating to see the progress. How are you doing? I can't imagine watching my child go through that and yet you have done 3 times now. Wow!! His head looks great. They seem to have done a great job.

Wow Jen he looks really good. It's incredible how fast babies can heal and how fast the swelling has gone down. What I love is that he's smiling through it all! He really must be easy going through it all!
