Kensi's first real hair cut

More hair...

Today Kensi got her first REAL hair cut! I say "real" because we did buzz off all of the yucky hair that remained a couple of months after her surgery; but that doesn't count as a real hair cut. So here we are 1.5 years later and she needed a real hair cut. Her hair was getting so long! I took off about 3 inches in the back to even it up with the front. She looks great!

Cassadi

We have the best dog in the world. Cassadi is a pure bred Golden Retriever and we love her. We got Cassadi for Christmas in 2005 when she was just a tiny puppy. The boys had been begging us for a dog for years and we promised them that once we had our own house we would get them one. That is a promise that they didn't forget and when we bought this house and moved in they expected a dog to be waiting for them on the front porch! Of course that wasn't the case. Marshyl has wanted a pure bred Golden Retriever ever since he was a kid and lost his best dog, Cassie, who was a GR. We knew that GR's are great family dogs and so that is what we looked for. It took 6 months of searching to find just the right dog; but fate steped in and we got Cassadi right in time for Christmas. Her name is a mix of Marshyl's 2 favorite dog names, Cassie & Sadi. We are so thankful to have her as part of our family. She turned out to be everything that we hoped. She is wonderful with the kids. She lets Kensi try to ride her, use her as a step stool to climb onto the couch and pull her tail. She takes good care of us and we are so glad to have her around!

Jen's hair

We have been having a lot of hair fun around here lately. It started Saturday with my hair. Our great friend, Julie, came over to do some highlights. Julie is also the one that we thank for the great cut. The color turned out great! I am SO COOL now with my red & blonde highlights. Woohoo! and a great big thanks to Julie!

Kensi set the table

Last night I asked Kensi to help Afton set the table. I came in a while later and found that she had set the place settings, just not on the table. She was really proud of herself!

It may never end...

Okay...I don't know how long the "pregnancy-brain-deadness" is supposed to last, but here we are 2 months after the baby was born and I'm still not cured. Here's what I did yesterday...

I got ambitious and decided to make bread to go with the clam chowder for dinner. I was really proud of myself to have everything going great and prepped to be ready for dinner at 6. I let the bread rise in the oven and then baked it. I opened up the oven to peek a couple of times while it was baking and the bread looked a little lumpy. But it had raised so I figured everything was fine. The timer went off telling me that the bread was done and I went to take it out. It was a little weird looking and lumpy on top still. "hmmm...I wonder what happened," I thought as I touched the top of the lumpy bread. RAW...totally dough still. I guess when I went to bake it, I only reset the timer but FORGOT TO TURN ON THE OVEN! Augh...so then I baked it but it had risen way too much and came out flat and REALLY weird looking. So dinner was really late, & the bread was really flat, but luckily eatable. I guess that is what I get for getting cocky and thinking I finally have it all together! :)

BTW...the clam chowder was GREAT!

Garrett's 2 month stats

Garrett had his 2 month check up today and here are his stats:
Weight: 10 lbs. 4 oz.
Height: 21.5 inches

He is doing great!
And just FYI, he is scheduled for his head surgery on Sept. 9th
up at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake.

Nic's 10th Birthday

Nic turned 10 this week! He had a great day. We had crepes with strawberries & cream cheese for breakfast, corn dogs & chips for lunch, and his favorite nachos & shrimp (not on the nachos) for dinner. He had a swimming party with 7 of his friends and then came back home for cake & ice cream. We often get tired of traditional birthday cakes around here, and this birthday was no exception. Nic chose for his cake a Strawberry Cheesecake Triffle. It looked and tasted GREAT! Happy Birthday Nic!

Cute baby Garrett

(in his blessing suit)

Garrett is 2 months old now and is so great. He loves to just hang out and smile at people. He is sleeping all night every night now and is the best baby! He is our cute little man and we can't get enough of him.

Trip to the farm

We spent a couple of days out at Grandpa & Grandma Morris's farm. We all had a great time. The kids played outside all day long. Kaiden led them all on many adventures. The kids love all of the animals and helping take care of them. Afton really loved collecting the eggs. Kensi got tired of being told to "go outside and play". She would say that it was too hot, and we would tell her to go into the shade; then she would say it was too cold, so we would tell her to put on her jacket. After going through this several time she finally figured it out. We sent her outside and she came right back in. I told her to go back outside and she said, "Brrr...it's hot!"

During the hotter parts of the day the kids would stay inside and watch a little bit of TV. At our house we haven't had any TV channels for several years, so Grandma's satilite TV was a new experience. Luke told me that when he grows up he wants to live out where Grandma lives so that his TV will have lots of channels!

Luke also spent quite a bit of time practicing his roping. He is really good and can hit the target almost every time.
